Why is it important to maintain the correct temperature in your poultry house?

Temperature is one of the most important factors to consider on a poultry farm, as it can significantly affect the welfare and performance of the birds. Therefore, maintaining a good temperature is essential to ensure optimal production and avoid animal health problems.

What temperature should we have?

In a poultry farm, the temperature must be kept within a specific range depending on the age of the birds, the climate in which the farm is located and the function the animals are to perform.

In poultry farms for broilers, it is recommended to keep the temperature between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius during the first two weeks of life, gradually reducing it to 20 degrees Celsius at the end of the growing phase. For laying hens, on the other hand, it is recommended to keep the temperature between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius.

In order to ensure the optimum temperature for each stage of the animal, at GANAL we carry out a free study on the amortisation of the ventilation of the farm. In it, we analyse the air conditioning of the poultry farm, examining the hot spots produced by the birds or the sun rays that enter, as well as the correct measure of air to be provided.

Benefits of a correct temperature

Maintaining a good temperature in a poultry house provides a number of benefits. Firstly, it helps to maximise the growth rate and production of the birds. When the temperature is too low, birds tend to eat less and grow more slowly. On the other hand, when the temperature is too high, birds can suffer from heat stress, which can affect their health and reduce their egg production.

In addition, maintaining an adequate temperature can prevent disease. Birds that are exposed to extreme temperatures are more susceptible to respiratory diseases, as their immune system is weakened. They may also be more vulnerable to infections and diseases transmitted by insects and parasites.

GANAL air-conditioning systems, your greatest ally

As we have seen in the previous paragraph, a good temperature in a poultry farm is essential to guarantee the well-being and health of the birds, as well as to maximise their production.

At GANAL we are aware of the importance of this factor, which is why we provide different air conditioning systems that provide optimum air quality inside the farms, thus eliminating excess heat, humidity and CO2 gases.

Our team of professionals carries out a personalised study of your farm to offer you the best solutions to optimise your production. At GANAL, we have different systems, such as extractors, humidifiers, heaters, etc.
